LEVEL 3 YEAR 2
I was inspired to create branding for a music festival. The branding is based on bright colours, with an illustrative, freehand appearance.
My Final Project is based on the popular culture of the 1970s. I was inspired by the work of Charles H. Traub, Helmut Newton, magazines such as Dazed & Confused, i-D and PAPER, and my trip to see the Tim Walker ‘Wonderful Things’ exhibition at the V&A. I created a magazine called ‘BLUSH’ to show how the trends of the ‘70s are still very prominent in today’s popular culture, and to showcase my favourite trends from the decade.
My final project is based on the theme pop culture. I decided to look into director, Quentin Tarantino’s work. I created screen prints based off of his films as well as, a zine and title sequence. I was inspired by the works of Dan Mumford and Saul Bass, two artists whose work is also based on pop culture.
I based my project on the theme Consumption & Consumerism. I was inspired by a brief I came across on the YCN website, which was to create candle packaging for Oliver Bonase’s new SS20 collection, and was a collaboration between Oliver Bonas and Fedrigoni. I chose to use this brief as my project as I enjoy re-branding and designing products/advertisements. I decided to make the candle designs and scents themed around different cultures as this went well with Oliver Bonase’s target audience. I had to make sure the packaging was eco-friendly and sustainable which is where the company Fedrigoni was involved, I experimented with their Woodstock paper as it is sustainable and recyclable. I added to this brief by creating advertisements for the candles.
My final project is based on the popular culture of artists who have died all under the age of 21. I was really inspired by one artist called Karan Singh, his work alone made my whole project come alive in my eyes, the colourful and eye-catching posters what he created using shapes and colours is what drove me to create my designs. Doing this still shows that although these artists have passed away their spirit and energy still strive inside of everyone and always will.
As part of my final project, I chose to work with the theme of animal rights. I chose to create a “Beginner Activists” pack for an activist group that I branded to help celebrate animal rights. The pack itself featured a collection of posters, a t-shirt design, a leaflet guide, iconic dates for animal rights and mini protest sign designs. I took inspiration from activist groups such as Extinction Rebellion and Amnesty International and their amazing graphic based posters that they use to promote their given causes. I really enjoyed this animal rights project because it gave me a chance to explore something new and personal to me.
My outcomes are based around the Blackpool Punk band BOSTON MANOR. I have created promotional material for singles features on their latest album GLUE, and for their 2020 tour in August.
My final project has been based around the theme connections, my work was inspired by the yearly design composition known as ‘36 days of type’ and my research into Jessica Hische’s work. I have designed four letter based poster designs for London attractions which are accompanied by moving animation posters as well.
My final project was based on the theme of Urban Environments of which I was inspired by a small brand called ‘CREO’ that stands for ‘Creativity Rejects Every Obstacle’. I designed a new line of
clothing under the name of ‘COTS’ with its very own identification including its own logo with multiple posters as part of the advertising. I continued building up this brand by creating t-shirt
mock-ups and hat mock-ups that I made suitable for the younger ages to mid-20s. My aim throughout has been to create people’s artwork of their choice on shirt designs that will come under
my brand name of ‘Creativity On The Streets’. In the very near future, I will be putting up my own clothing website to showcase more shirt designs and clothing creations that I have come up with myself with my own primary photography that I have illustrated. I have been inspired by many more streetwear artists, including some influential graphic designers on Instagram that I have talked to along the way, taking tips from in the design process and what they advised when creating my very
own brand and how to grow it correctly.
My Final Major project is based on the theme of Pets in Space I was inspired by cartoons artist Daniel Chong, Jim Davis and Pendleton Ward. I designed a tutorial book calledPets in Space, designed towards inspiring children.
